Big day...again! We left Belize today....Entered Guatemala. It was interesting, confusing, boring, tireing, very unorganized. Belize, being under british influence is highly organized. And then to enter into Guatemala and find the opposite. Anyway we are here and we have Quezels to spend instead of Belize dollars or mexican pecoes Quezels are $10. american to 80 quezels.
There 's a dramatic change in scenery.. from jungle in SW Belize to farmland in NE Guatemala. And horrible, gravelly roads. We headed straight to Tikal Natl Pk and will stay here for 3 nights. I started my anti-maleria meds today and am feeling some side effects...light head, minor belly crampng. The staff say it isn't necessary to take because we will not be in swamps, etc.... you could fool me, this looks pretty swampy to me!
