Day 33 Jan 30

Another fantastic day...no travelling! But that's not accurate, we travelled but we didn't drive! We left Nana Juana (google it) by boat and travelled along the river for several hours, stopping here and there to admire the flora and fauna, passing many small inhabited island villages, to the carribean and Livingston, a large town you can get to only by water....
We lunched and shopped..... purchased a Jade necklace with a silver Quetzel on it for 150 Quetzels.....$18 american, made by a german man who has become a local. Also bought an over-blouse, hand made and embroidered, at a womans co-operative. The native women wear them and they are beautiful....maybe I'll wear it too.....and ofcourse be beautiful!
I will be bunching up the next few days....we'll be crossing the border tomorrow into Honduras and dry camping in more Mayan ruin parking lots...we think, not too sure on this one apparently!

  1. Glad to see you are supporting the local economy, Franny! Sounds like a great trip.

I finished knitting my first pair of socks yesterday, and thought of you as I slipped them on for the very first time. I'm not sure I'm quite ready to start pair #2 yet, but I do have some yummy yarn waiting...

Enjoy the warmth, we are hunkered in by the fire this morning!
